BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The SAHTOSO Methodology Facilitator designs and executes dynamics that support the implementation of activities to promote proper hygiene habits and behavior change related to open defecation in schools and communities. Supports the SBC technician in the implementation of the SATHOSO methodology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

University studies or equivalent demonstrable experience in one or more of the following fields: social work, sociology, anthropology.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • At least one year of experience in educational outreach/support and messaging/promotion in humanitarian projects with non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene with a community and anthropological focus is desirable.
  • Knowledge of participatory dynamics/methodologies for carrying out activities to promote good habits in access to water, sanitation, hygiene and health, food security and livelihoods, or other dynamics for team and/or community activities that do not necessarily originate from the humanitarian field.
  • Experience in hard-to-reach areas.
  • Simultaneous community management in a large number of communities.

  • Knowledge of cross-cutting approaches such as Protection (PEAS, GBV), gender perspective, and environmental sustainability.

Objective 1: Design

  • Study the characteristics of communities (leadership, livelihoods, potential tensions, etc.) to subsequently support the design of dynamics that support activities.
  • Design participatory and group dynamics to carry out hygiene promotion/behavior change/hygiene habit promotion activities using SAHTOSO methodologies.
  • Support the SBC technician and project manager in the community activity plan using the SAHTOSO methodology.
  • Preparation of technical documents related to activities: presentations, information materials, education, communication (posters, flyers), messages to be broadcast on radio/television, characterization and selection of supplies to be delivered to health centers and communities.

Objective 2: Implementation

  • Energize/support hygiene promotion/behavior change activities in health centers and communities with other staff.
  • Use previously designed participatory and group dynamics to implement the aforementioned support.
  • Support SAHTOSO’s activity plan.

Objective 3: Monitoring

  • Support the SBC technician and everything necessary for the development of the methodology
  • Collaborate on the implementation of a complaints and suggestion mechanism for all project areas through voicemail, phone, WhatsApp, chat, and observation, ensuring that beneficiaries (communities or institutions) are aware of and use it.
  • Approach to the community or institutions for conducting surveys (baseline, performance, post-distribution).
  • Immediately report to your superior any situation that may deviate from the natural course of activities.

Objective 4: Training/capacity building

  • Participate in training and development activities established by the SBC technician, project manager, or technical coordinator.

Objective 6: PEAS

  • Respect the code of conduct and policies related to the PEAS
  • Actively participate in EAS training and awareness initiatives and collaborate in the dissemination of related materials
  • Process reports of SEA cases through the channels designated for that purpose
  • Participate, where appropriate, in investigations undertaken following reports of SEA cases
  • Detect and mitigate or avoid risks related to SEA that may arise from the programs (this point particularly affects the personnel involved in the development of the programs)

The main location of the project is Quibdó, Chocó. However, for the successful development of project activities and HEKS EPER’s strategy in the area, frequent business trips to hard-to-reach locations in the departments of Chocó and Antioquia will be necessary.

The contract will last 13 months. The contracting process is expected to conclude by the end of September 2026.
