Job Summary

The Clean Water Coordinator will help Minnesota meet its clean water goals by leading the agency’s efforts to administer Clean Water Funds programs. Together with the field staff and the Grants Coordinator you will help support our local governments as they deliver services to their communities. The person in this position will be a technical leader who will apply their scientific and administrative knowledge to tailor solutions and develop new approaches to solve resource management problems. You will establish goals and objectives, provide guidance, monitor program progress and coordinate with state, federal and local partners among other responsibilities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of experience in watershed protection and restoration program administration that demonstrates: 

  • Experience advising on complex scientific, technical and programmatic issues
  • Experience developing resource management strategies 
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures
  • Human relations skills sufficient to negotiate and build consensus among diverse groups
  • Communication skills sufficient to conduct public speaking engagements and explain complex issues to individuals with a variety of backgrounds

Substitutions:  A bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Geology, Water & Land Management, Soil Science, Environmental Science, Civil/Agricultural/Environmental Engineering or other closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the structure, organizational procedures and inter-organizational dynamics of local, regional, state, and federal government and their board, commissions, agencies and affiliated associations.

Knowledge of political and fiscal processes related to water and soil conservation in order to develop program policies and present to key stakeholders.

Experience working for or with local units of government

Procedural understanding of the Clean Water programs administered by the Board of Water and Soil Resources

Physical Requirements

The person in this position needs to occasionally transport file boxes weighing up to 25 pounds and move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment etc. across the office for various needs.

Travel will comprise approximately 5% of the total work hours.  The person in this position will need to be able to travel to organizations in various locations across the State.
