Job Advert SummaryReporting to the Senior Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing programmes and multidisciplinary projects to enhance interdependencies to meet their objectives, stakeholder management in line with Rand Water’s strategic objectives.
Minimum RequirementsFormal engineering qualifications (BTech, BSc/BEng degree).
10 years Project Management experience with a proven track record in managing high level
projects, project management skills (best project management practices) in terms of managing
matrix structures, multi-disciplinary projects
10 years’ experience in the engineering field, mainly in water industry.
Project Management Qualification/Professional Certification (Diploma, Degree or Project
Management Professional-PMP).
Professional Registration (or eligibility to be registered) with the Engineering Council of SA.
Professional Registration with SACPCMP
Primary DutiesProgramme management per site which entails project master plan, stakeholder management, project governance and providing leadership.
Accountable and responsible for Capex with unlimited budget and authorised vote. This involves signing the payment certificates and variation orders to the value of the contract including contingencies. Revision of the contract value will be authorised by the authorising body
 Decision Limits (Accountability) : In line with delegated authority, for authorisation of work and procurement of goods and services. Have authority over Project Managers to ensure targets are met (strong matrix)
Directly accountable for Capital Budget per site.
Responsible for managing all aspects (time, costs, quality, objectives/deliverables, minimise negative environment impacts and maximise Preferential Procurement participation and development) of multi-disciplinary and multi-projects.
KnowledgeProject Management software (Advanced Level
of SAP Project Systems, Enterprise Project Management Tools and MS Excel)
Project and programme management principles and procedures
Contract management
Project risk management
Pertinent legislation in water industry
Knowledge of CIDB regulation
SkillsProven management, communication and leadership skills, strong influencing skills (negotiations), conflict resolution skills and ability to achieve objectives without having direct responsibility (people management skills)
