Job Description
Role purpose:
Under the supervision of the WASH/Shelter NFI Coordinator, the WASH/Shelter NFI Assistant will be responsible for providing support and participation in assessments, design of projects, preparation of Bill of Quantities (BoQ), monitoring of WASH/Shelter NFI projects and working with other sectors in planning and monitoring of budgets, DIPs, and progress reports. She/He will participate in emergency preparedness activities and be ready to respond in the event of an emergency, as required. Under the supervision of the WASH/Shelter NFI Coordinator, the WASH/Shelter NFI Assistant is responsible a range of WASH/Shelter NFI initiatives including, but not limited to, hygiene promotion campaigns, surveys, cleaning campaigns, distribution of hygiene kits, bottled drinking water, etc. She/He will facilitate coordination with the WASH/Shelter NFI team, community hygiene promoters, sanitation committees, and other stakeholders. She/He will also be responsible for contributing to the following of SCI technical recommendations and procedures with the overall aim of improving access to safe water and sanitation, influencing good behavior change in hygiene practices in project areas in the south of Ukraine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the WASH/Shelter NFI team in developing WASH/Shelter NFI response plan.
- Support WASH/Shelter NFI team by assisting in the development of high-quality documentation.
- Provide support to WASH/Shelter NFI team in the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of WASH/Shelter NFI project activities.
- In partnership with the MEAL team, analyze monitoring data to improve program design and implementation.
- Support in the strengthening of coordination and integration between other sector programming in the South Area Office.
Technical Capacity Building and Support
- Make regular field visits to review programs and build implementing partner’s capacity in quality program implementation.
- Monitor completion of quality WASH/Shelter NFI construction facilities in targeted communities and institutional WASH/Shelter NFI construction facilities
- Where and when required, review proposal, outputs and indicators, budgets and BvAs with the WASH/Shelter NFI team to ensure timely delivery of programs.
- Support the development of BOQs and technical specifications and work with Supply Chain to ensure delivery of WASH/Shelter NFI inputs in a timely manner.
Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Participate in assessments providing support as required.
- Assist and support in reviewing of quality benchmark and reports.
- Support field teams and partners to carry out regular monitoring to measure and report on achievement and progress towards project objectives and results.
- Support the organization of periodic technical project review meetings.
- Support field monitoring visits to document observations and experiences and share them with field and PDQ teams and contribute for improvement of Program quality.
- Contribute to internal and external reporting including sitreps and other MEAL related activities.

To Be Successful, You Will Need:
- University Graduate (University degree at Civil engineering, water engineering, or other related fields)
- Good knowledge of water, sanitation and hygiene.
- Construction skills in the field of water and sanitation is an asset.
- Good organization, planning and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good team interaction and positive attitude.
- Familiar with Word, Excel, and Outlook, Teams, AutoCAD
- Ability to communication English languages is an asset.
- Fluent in Ukrainian (both written and spoken)
- Experience in implementing WASH/Shelter NFI activities.
- Experience in integration of WASH/Shelter NFI and other sectors (such as Health, Nutrition, Child Protection, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods) and effectively engage communities in the implementation process.
Desirable:
- Minimum 1 year experience in commercial water/sanitation or NGO WASH programs
