A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) Research Scholarship (BI), for graduated students enrolled in a 2nd cycle of studies or graduated students enrolled in a course that does not award an academic degree, within the Research Project titled Agenda Mobilizadora “GIATEX – Gestão Inteligente da Água na ITV”, funded by the Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência de Portugal, Componente 5 – Capitalização e Inovação Empresarial, Regulamento do Sistema de Incentivos “Agendas para a Inovação Empresarial”, taking place at the Research Unit FibEnTech – Fiber Materials and Environmental Technologies, at the University of Beira Interior, https://www.ubi.pt/entidade/FibEnTech, under the following conditions:

Objectives:
Develop research within the scope of the GIATEX Project – Intelligent Water Management at ITV, focusing on waterless wool washing using supercritical carbon dioxide technology, enabling product recovery and lanolin extraction, proving to be a technologically advanced, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective process. R&D work will focus on the following WPs: WP3. Ennoblement technologies with lower water consumption; WP4. Textile wastewater treatment technologies; WP5. Industrial pilot.
Work Plan:
The proposed Work Plan involves collaboration in carrying out the following tasks: Characterization and testing of supercritical carbon dioxide technology for waterless wool washing; Product recovery processes and lanolin extraction; Study of the ecological and economic impacts of the processes, particularly in reducing water consumption; Process testing, optimization, and improvement. Collaboration in the preparation of scientific articles for publication and dissemination of project results.

Work Location:
The work will be developed at R&D FibEnTech – Fibrous Materials and Environmental Technologies, Department of Textile Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Rua Marquês d’Ávila e Bolama, 6201-001 Covilhã and at the facilities of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Nuno José Ramos Belino, belino@ubi.pt.
Fellowship duration and conditions:
The fellowship is opened for 6 months, starting on September 2025. The activity is in regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the RBIUBI.
The fellowship contract may eventually be renewed for period of 3 months, under the scientific advisor’s statement, however, it cannot exceed the date of the end of the project, or the date of its extension, if the date of the end of the project comes to be extended, nor the maximum periods for awarding fellowships defined by RBIUBI – Regulation of Research Fellowships of the University of Beira Interior, according to the type of course in which the graduates are enrolled.

Publication/notification of results:
The final results of the evaluation process will be published in a sorted list, by the final classification obtained, and posted in a visible and public place of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Beira Interior. The candidate(s) will be notified of the decision by e-mail.

Benefits
A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of 1 040,98€ according to the updated values that can be consulted at https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores. The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. To this amount is added the voluntary social insurance, if the candidate chooses to be assigned, as well as personal accident insurance.

Selection process
The evaluation and selection process begins with the verification of the eligibility of the applications based on the defined admission requirements and the application of the evaluation and selection criteria, which are based on the following parameters:
1 – Curriculum Assessment:
A – Master degree classification;
B – Experience in funded projects in textile, clothing and fashion areas;
C – Curriculum Vitae according to the project objectives;
CCA (Classification of Curriculum Assessment) = 0,3 x A + 0,3 x B + 0,4 x C
2 – Interview
D – Interview to the 2 candidates with the best grade in the CCA (Classification of Curriculum Assessment). The interview can be done by videoconference.
FC (Final Classification) – to the evaluation and selection parameters will be assigned the following percentage weighting: FC = 0,6 x CCA + 0,4 x D

Complaint and Appeal Procedures:
After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.
The proposal for the final ranking of the candidates will constitute a reserve list for selection for a period of 6 months.
