An opportunity exists for a hydrologic/hydraulic modeler who has a passion for wastewater and stormwater collection and/or potable water distribution systems. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail oriented, team player that is excited about taking on a new challenge. Our team collaborates on projects coast to coast in Canada and across North America. We are a high-performing, collaborative team that successfully delivers projects to a range of clients. As part of the Urban Water Resources Water Delivery Team, you will be an important contributor to helping our clients manage their existing collection (sanitary, stormwater, and combined) and water distribution systems. You will also be relied on for expert level guidance to our various offices across the company.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a wide variety of urban water resources projects, from planning and conceptual design through detailed design, implementation, and operational support.
- Prepare technical reports and design briefs.
- Coordinate with senior hydrologic/hydraulic modelers and project leaders to ensure that the projects’ needs are met, and priorities are understood.
- Develop surface drainage, sewer collection, and water distribution system hydrologic/hydraulic models to assess performance, investigate deficiencies and generate/evaluate feasible remedial solutions.
- Assist and/or undertake field investigations in support of hydraulic model builds and conceptual/functional designs.
- Communicate results/interpretations via technical reporting and presentations.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Sound understanding of water and environmental related principles and engineering concepts, including hydraulics and hydrology
- Commitment to client satisfaction and the delivery of high-quality work products
- Experience with industry standard hydraulic/hydrologic tools/models. Familiarity with InfoWorks CS/ICM (1D and 2D), InfoSWMM, InfoWater, WaterGems, PCSWMM, WaterCAD, and/or DHI Mike software packages would be considered an asset. (Please identify which software packages (noted or other) you are familiar with and to what extent).
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data and hydraulic model results (i.e., data/spreadsheet management).
- Experience working with GIS and/or AutoCAD to present and facilitate interpretation of results is preferred.
- Highly skilled in common desktop packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, etc.)
- Experience authoring technical reports.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exposure to developing/calibrating and interpreting hydraulic/hydrologic models would be considered an asset.
- Experience supporting and/or preparing proposals would be considered an asset.
- Experience with complimentary skillsets would be considered assets (coding, river engineering, climate change, asset management, coastal engineering, etc.)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, water resources, or environmental engineering.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as an Engineering-Intern (EIT) or Professional Engineer in Canada.
- Minimum of 4 years relatable experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining seated for long periods of time. Hybrid work arrangement available.
