Position HighlightsThe Research Professional I will support a short-term project, creating a Digital Atlas of Arizona’s Groundwater Resources. The role involves routine tasks such as preparing datasets and following established procedures to assist in mapping groundwater availability and trends. The position also supports modeling evapotranspiration under future environmental scenarios. Duties & ResponsibilitiesPrepare and organize multi-source datasets, following established protocols to support AI model development for mapping groundwater availability and trends across Arizona.Document research procedures and maintain high-quality data throughout the project.Coordinate with principal investigator and his team to facilitate project milestones and provide technical support for AI-driven groundwater and evapotranspiration modeling.Report progress and technical issues in team meetings to assist the principal investigator and his team in advancing groundwater mapping and evapotranspiration modeling under future environmental scenarios.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):Expertise in groundwater hydrology, environmental data integration, and water resource management using multi-source datasets.Proficiency in environmental modeling, including groundwater mapping and evapotranspiration projection.Strong skills in GIS, spatial analysis, and programming languages such as Python, and MATLAB, Res2dinv/mod, Res3dinv/mod software.Knowledge of subsurface imaging, mapping, and 3-D visualization.Ability to communicate complex scientific findings effectively to interdisciplinary teams.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.1 year of relevant work experience required.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Geological Resources and Geological Engineering.
