HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Perform highly advanced administrative and supervisory program tasks for a highly technical Team to ensure the work for the assigned programs are completed efficiently, professionally and in accordance with federal, state and agency standards while aligning with division and section goals and objectives. Participate in the evaluation of the assigned budget(s), various professional service contracts and conducts recommendations to management on program, operational and resource status.
- Lead, oversee and/or coordinate engineering projects such as water security, emergency response, rule writing, review of proposed regulations, bill review/analysis and streamlining Team/Section/Division processes and publications.
- Conduct and oversee personnel management functions, which includes interviewing, hiring, and performance management.
- Communicate information and oversees team communication, customer service, technical support, and assistance to team staff, management, and internal and external stakeholders. Develop and conduct presentations to the regulated community, trade associations and local, federal and other state agencies. Assist in the coordination of activities in response to emergency events or other related public water system operations.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience in the administration of a program relevant to assignment
AND
Texas Professional Engineer’s license plus five years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
OR
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience leading, supervising and mentoring technical staff.
- Experience reviewing engineering plans/submittals and projects.
- Experience writing and/or editing technical documents.
- Experience implementing a regulatory program requiring the development of rules, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance, forms and improving existing processes.
- Experience working with public drinking water programs or drinking water state and federal rules
- Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders and providing technical support.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer VI state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer VI series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Supply Office.
