About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager – Hydrologist to support water resource planning, springshed mapping, and recharge zone identification across multiple ecological restoration and climate resilience projects. The selected candidate will play a leading role in hydrological assessments, fieldwork coordination, and strategic planning for water sustainability interventions.
General Roles and Responsibilities
- Design and implement hydrological surveys, watershed assessments, and spring recharge studies.
- Delineate watersheds and springsheds using DEM, slope, drainage, and landform data.
- Monitor spring discharge, seasonal flow variation, and groundwater levels.
- Analyze rainfall-runoff relationships, water balance, and aquifer recharge capacity.
- Identify and recommend site-specific water conservation and recharge structures.
- Collaborate with GIS analysts, ecologists, and field teams for integrated landscape planning.
- Train field staff in data collection, QA/QC protocols, and community-based monitoring.
- Liaise with government agencies, community stakeholders, and local institutions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and presentations.
- Contribute to policy inputs, funding proposals, and knowledge dissemination.
- Provide technical input for planning spring rejuvenation and agroforestry integration.
- Conduct training sessions on spring monitoring and data interpretation.
Qualifications and Experience
- M.Sc./M.Tech. in Hydrology, Water Resources, Environmental Engineering, or Geosciences.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in watershed or spring hydrology.
- Proficiency in field instruments, hydro-modelling tools, and GIS platforms (QGIS/ArcGIS).
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Experience working in Himalayan or hilly ecosystems is desirable.
- Willingness to travel and work in remote field conditions.
