Position HighlightsThe Scientific Analyst II will work closely with Dr. Laura Condon to build and analyze remote sensing data products of the hydrologic landscape. Work will involve data processing, workflow development, plotting and analysis. The work will require technical experience in remote sensing and data processing as well as strong graphical and verbal communication skills.

The successful candidate will join a group of highly impactful and collaborative staff and graduate students.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage geospatial data to support hydrologic research. This will involve, database management, workflow development and meta data development.
Use the developed geospatial databases to evaluate trends in stream networks across the US. Work will be done primarily in python and GIS. Candidates will be expected to create maps and graphs of trends in network density for large datasets.
Contribute to the preparation of project reports and funding proposals.
Work with Dr. Condon to prepare scientific journal articles documenting the data and analysis workflow and findings. The candidate will primarily be responsible for figure creation and workflow documentation but will also contribute to manuscript writing.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Hydrology or related field.Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety ReportIn compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
