Position SummaryDuties and Responsibilities:· Conduct applied research in surface water and groundwater hydrology, watershed dynamics, and environmental modeling in alignment with CAESER’s water resource initiatives.· Design and evaluate systems, equipment, and infrastructure related to flood control, stormwater management, water supply, and aquifer recharge, using engineering best practices.· Oversee and coordinate CAESER’s field operations, including hydrologic and geophysical data collection, water quality sampling, streamflow measurements, and instrumentation deployment.· Utilize modeling tools and geospatial analysis software to assess environmental conditions and simulate water resource scenarios.· Provide technical training, coordination, and mentorship for CAESER graduate research assistants and field personnel, promoting a culture of research excellence and safety in field environments.· Collaborate with CAESER faculty, staff, and external partners to secure research funding through competitive grants and contracts.· Publish peer-reviewed articles and technical reports, and present research findings to academic, agency, and community stakeholders.· Ensure research activities are compliant with environmental regulations, institutional protocols, and safety standards.· Support CAESER’s interdisciplinary mission and contribute to program growth through strategic planning and outreach.· Supervise the Operations Support and Field Safety staff, and share oversight of senior field and water technicians with the Assistant Director of Environmental and Geospatial Analyses and Scientific Communications.· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position QualificationsPosition Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a closely related field and at least five years of relevant field experience in hydrology or hydrogeology. Must have and maintain valid driver’s license. 
Special ConditionsMust be able to drive and lift heavy objects.
