Position: WASH Officer – School & HCF

Reports to: Provincial Coordinator- WASH Engineer

Education/Professional Background:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, Rural Development or related field with at least 5 years of experience in the WASH sector, particularly in school and/or health facility settings. Knowledge of national WASH standards and relevant policies in Nepal. Proven experience in community mobilization, training delivery, and WASH infrastructure monitoring. Strong reporting, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Other specification:

  • Fluent in Nepali and local dialects; proficiency in English preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Package(Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Ability to work in rural and remote areas.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite(Gmail, Drive, Doc, Spreadsheet etc)
  • Culturally sensitive, empathetic, and respectful in diverse settings.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to Wine to Water’s values and mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Implementation & Coordination

  • Conduct baseline WASH assessments in schools and HCFs in collaboration with local stakeholders;
  • Oversee the construction, repair, and maintenance of WASH facilities (toilets, water systems, handwashing stations);
  • Ensure WASH infrastructure complies with Government of Nepal standards, especially DWSSM, MoHP, and Education Ministry regulations;
  • Coordinate with school management committees, health post staff, local government, and contractors for effective implementation of the project.

Hygiene Promotion & Training

  • Lead and Implement participatory-based lead hygiene behavior change sessions at schools and HCFs;
  • Promote inclusive approaches including Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM), WASH for people with disabilities, and gender equity;
  • Support in developing and distributing IEC materials in Nepali and local languages.

Capacity Building

  • Train school teachers, students, child clubs, health workers, and local WASH committees on sustainable WASH practices;
  • Facilitate sessions on operation and maintenance (O&M) of WASH facilities.

Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting

  • Monitor the use and functionality of WASH facilities and support in ensuring sustainability;
  • Collect data/reports in m-Water app, document case studies and impact stories;
  • Submit regular progress reports to the direct supervisor regarding the project.

Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent Wine to Water Nepal in local WASH networks and thematic meetings.

General

  • Other duties as assigned.
