About the role

Play a key role in shaping the future of SA Water’s infrastructure by developing and implementing Asset Approaches and Asset Management Plans for water assets. You’ll ensure delivery of agreed service levels while optimising performance, risk, and life-cycle costs. This role focuses on achieving efficient, customer-centric outcomes that support long-term sustainability and reliability.

This role is primarily focussed on the water pump station facility class in Metro and Outer-Metro Adelaide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement Asset Management Plans for our water assets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, customer needs, and whole-of-life asset performance.
  • Provide strategic direction through the development of Asset Approaches that incorporate demand forecasting, risk management, lifecycle costing, and performance optimisation.
  • Drive improvements across the full asset lifecycle—including operation, maintenance, renewal, and rationalisation—ensuring timely interventions, cost efficiency, and compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Define asset information requirements, analyse performance data, and use trends to inform business decisions and reporting, including contributions to key documents such as the State of Assets Report.
  • Identify and manage asset-related risks, ensuring decisions are customer-focused and based on robust analysis, scenario planning, and contingency preparedness.
  • Establish strong partnerships with internal teams, technical experts, regulators, and other stakeholders to align asset planning with broader infrastructure strategies and regulatory expectations.

About the Person

You have proven experience in Asset Management, ideally within the water industry, or extensive experience with similar infrastructure. You will need the following to be successful:

  • Have qualifications in Asset Management, Engineering, Science, or trade-based discipline.
  • Possess sound analytical skills and can demonstrate the ability to access, evaluate and solve problems with dealing with customers or other issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, while adapting to diverse communication styles and preferences.
  • Extensive knowledge of infrastructure assets in water or wastewater systems, maintenance or operational activities is highly desirable.
  • Experience with large rotating machines and high voltage equipment is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, drive innovation, and make clear, confident decisions to achieve successful outcomes.
