As part of a response to a call for tenders in Ghana, CA 17 International, partner of Rives & Eaux du Sud-Ouest, is proposing new opportunities for collaboration on a project aimed at increasing agricultural incomes and promoting inclusive, climate-resilient, and sustainable economic growth in rural communities within the joint intervention area of the programme.
The project aims to facilitate access to productive and environmentally friendly infrastructure to contribute to household income growth and the sustainable development of agricultural trade. The specific objectives are:
1. Improve access to water for agriculture through the rehabilitation, construction, and equipping of irrigation infrastructure (dams, solar pumping systems).
2. Strengthen the capacities of agricultural producers, notably through the creation and training of Water Users Associations (WUAs).
3. Promote sustainable and agroecological agricultural practices to increase yields while preserving natural resources.
4. Develop agricultural value chains, especially for rice and horticulture, to boost producers’ incomes.
5. Ensure the sustainable management of infrastructure by implementing maintenance mechanisms and local governance systems.
6. Integrate environmental and social dimensions through the implementation of impact studies (ESIA, ESMP, RAP) and appropriate mitigation measures.
7. Strengthen the institutional capacities of public actors (MoFA, GIDA, PMU) in planning, project management, monitoring & evaluation, procurement, and financial management.
Research profile: TEAM LEADER AND IRRIGATION – F/M
Qualification and Experience :
– At least post-graduate degree in Irrigation or Agricultural Engineering, Rural Development or related discipline/field;
– He /she must have at least ten (10) years of experience as a Team Leader in managing irrigation developmental projects including setting up and support WUAs;
– He must have been a team leader/deputy team leader of a Consulting Firm in offering the services of Technical Service to agricultural projects, two or more times. Or as an Individual Consultant offering Technical Assistance to an agricultural project;
– He must have experience in planning, studying, designing and the construction supervision of irrigation projects;
– He must have experience in providing project management services;
– Experience in the preparation of O&M Manual and design of M&E system for donor-funded irrigation projects;
– At least 10 years working experience in donor-funded (AFD in particularly) projects with at least 5 years of specific responsibility on irrigation water management or irrigated agronomy;
– He/she must be a member of relevant professional body and have at least fifteen (15) years of post-qualification experience from at least five (5) projects of similar nature and complexity as AWMP;
– Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an added advantage.
Language :
Proficient in writing and speaking English
Regional Experience :
Familiarity and experience in Sub-Saharan Africa especially in West Africa and Ghana (preferably northern Ghana)
Availability :
Will be mobilized on fulltime basis.
The project duration is a fixed term of 13 months, with a conditional phase of an additional 33 months.
