Job Purpose
Coordinate climate-adaptive design for water scarcity and renewable energy based development and provide strategic guidance, water security issues mainstreaming in the organization and providing clarity to organisational climate outcome and output indicators, project operation and management, support climate change grant-making and implementation of CCA-related activities in collaboration with different BRAC programmes
Key Responsibilities
- Explore, develop and implement climate-adaptive design for water scarcity technologies and actions to help to combat climate change effects
- Lead designing climate adaptive design for water security approaches, and implementation plans considering the contexts and requirements
- Provide research guidance to the team on climate adaptive water options to the climate hot spots
- Work towards implementation of climate change adaptation (CCA) and mitigation interventions in vulnerable areas of Bangladesh.
- Involve in grants making, networking, implementation, publication initiative
- Liaison, engagement and relationship management with key programme stakeholders, including national and local government, beneficiary institutions, and international development partners
- Management and oversight of programme monitoring and evaluation systems and processes, in collaboration with the dedicated monitoring and evaluation team
- Represent BRAC to government, different forums, partners, donors and other stakeholders, and develop and maintain productive relationships.
- Involve in CCA capacity building efforts by helping in module development, support in communication material development related to AdMit (Adaptation and Mitigation)
- Perform relevant research and mapping to identify best practices in CC adaption and mitigation
- Prepare financial or budget plans and allocation based on the context-specific intervention
- Proper practical knowledge of essential tools for water resources analysis, planning, and management
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
- Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Additional Job Requirements
- Good writing skills in water security, CCA, mitigation, and DRR
- Strong command over written and verbal communication in English
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Excellent report writing skills
- Prior knowledge of climate change science, adaptation, mitigation, and DRR
- Possess good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issues
- A multi-tasker with a strong ability to work under pressure
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with attention to detail
Educational Requirements
Masters in Civil Engineer/Water Resources Management/Environment Science/Disaster Management/Development studies from any recognised university.
Experience Requirements
Minimum 8 Years’ of experience in relevant field.
