Position Highlights | The Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) conducts water policy research and analysis, and its information transfer activities include publications, conferences, lectures, and seminars. Water news and information are provided to the academic community, water professionals, elected and appointed officials, students and the public.The WRRC is one of five University of Arizona water centers responsible for implementing the Water Sustainability Program, a component of the Water, Energy and Environmental Solutions (WEES), which receives funding from The University of Arizona’s Technology and Research Initiative Fund (TRIF).The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the WRRC for planning the Annual Conference and assist with other communications tasks as needed. The successful applicant will organize weekly team meetings, take notes and assign action items, and contribute to shared documents to track conference planning and tasks. Duties & Responsibilities | Assist with planning the annual conference:Organize weekly team meetings.Take notes and assign action itemsUpdate and manage spreadsheets to track task completion and project management. Assist with communications for the annual conference: Draft emails, flyer’s, and other communications for internal and external audiences.Respond to and track emails with internal and external collaborator.Create and update shared documents.Other conference tasks as needed.Assist with other WRRC communications and tasks: Write short stories for the weekly newsletter. Review and edit various publications and communications; contribute to the development of the Annual Report.Assist with the collection of metrics to track WRRC accomplishments.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to take detailed meeting notes and follow-up with action items.Ability to use spreadsheets to track tasks and project management. Ability to respond promptly and professionally to emails with internal and external partners.Knowledge of WRRC programs and regional water topics. Skills in written and verbal communications. Skills in time management to organize and complete tasks. Skills in using shared documents and shared folders.Ability to utilize Outlook Calendar and Zoom to organize team meetings. |
Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.1 year of relevant experience required. |
Preferred Qualifications | Strong written and verbal communication skills.Attention to detail; familiarity with WRRC programs and regional water topics.Bachelor’s degree in related field of study. |
