We are seeking an experienced hydrogeologist and motivated leader to join the Statewide Groundwater team in a senior role, contributing to the sustainable management of Queensland’s groundwater resources.

As Principal Hydrogeologist, you will provide expert advice on groundwater science, groundwater modelling, policy development, and Queensland’s regulatory water framework. Your expertise will play a vital role in informing evidence-based decisions on groundwater use, protection, and long-term planning.

The Role
As Principal Hydrogeologist, you will provide expert advice on groundwater science, groundwater modelling, policy development, and the regulatory framework for water in Queensland. Your work will be integral to supporting evidence-based decisions on groundwater resource use and protection.

In this role, you will:
-Deliver high-level technical advice and peer reviews for major infrastructure and resource projects.
– Undertake groundwater resource assessments and review conceptual and numerical groundwater models.
– Contribute to strategic water planning processes and provide guidance on complex groundwater licensing and regulatory matters.
– Supervise a small team, mentor staff, and promote technical excellence and best practices in groundwater science.
– Support capability development and continuous improvement within the team and across the department.

This is a key leadership opportunity for a hydrogeologist with 7-10+ years of experience who thrives on solving complex groundwater challenges and shaping the future of water resource management in Queensland.
