The School of Transdisciplinary Science and Design (Malaysia Campus) was launched in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in September 2024 as the first overseas campus of the Japanese university. It promotes education centered on Problem Based Learning (PBL) focusing on global issues, develops water environment-related education that contributes to solving global issues, and further advances the internationalization of education at the university. - Work content and job descriptionWe are seeing candidates who could perform transdisciplinary education and research under the collaboration with the faculty members with a variety of academic backgrounds in Malaysia campus. Also, the candidates are expected to perform collaboration research with the faculty members of Doctoral Program in Environmental Studies on the topics, such as the water resources, water disasters, and water contamination issues occurring in south-east Asia including Malaysia. These issued should be solved to implement the sustainable water use and conservation with the perspective in which the surface water and the groundwater are dealt as a continuous hydrological cycle under the variety of the site specific conditions of climate, geology and geomorphology. In addition, the importance of groundwater as an alternative water resource is increasing during disasters such as large-scale earthquakes, and there is a need for researchers who can study the groundwater and surface water cycle processes at the regional and watershed scales globally.
