About the role

North East Water provides water and sewage services to over 110,000 people across 39 towns throughout north east Victoria.

The Treatment Technician plays a vital role in supporting our Water Treatment teams through undertaking site visits and assisting with daily tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations while minimising disruptions and upholding system integrity to deliver safe drinking water.

In this role you will have an exciting opportunity to provide technical input into treatment processes, upgrades and instrumentation calibration to ensure optimisation and continual improvement.

Our Treatment Technicians travel across the North East region supporting teams from Yarrawonga to Wodonga down to Wangaratta and Myrtleford and across to Corryong. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to get out and about in our region and gain exposure across our 21 water treatment plants. You will have access to a diverse range of learning opportunities, allowing you to expand on your existing knowledge and skills in the field of water treatment.

This role is a full-time ongoing opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options. The general hours of work for this position are between 7am and 4:30pm. Once deemed competent, you will participate in a seven-day standby roster every 4-6 weeks which operates from a Tuesday until the following Tuesday. As this is a mobile role, your base of work will be in line with your location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support to the Water Treatment teams, including undertaking site visitations and daily tasks.
  • Provide technical input into the design, construction and commissioning of new treatment plant or treatment plant upgrade projects on behalf of the Operations group.
  • Implement changes within the Operations group for continuous compliance and improvement projects.
  • Train operators and other work groups within North East Water in water treatment and new procedures and assist with employee workplace skill assessments.
  • Work with operators and other technical staff to optimise treatment on a day-to-day and seasonal basis.
  • In consultation with the Water Systems team, follow up on water quality events to ensure compliance and improvement.
  • Commitment and availability to participate in Standby Duty Roster as required.
  • Provide technical support for distribution issues including odour management, sewer corrosion and safe drinking water quality issues in the reticulation.
  • Ensure all asset related data is correctly entered into the Asset Management Information System.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience as a self-motivated individual with a teamwork focus and excellent communication skills.
  1. Demonstrated ability to act within an Occupational Health and Safety mindset.
  2. Ability to problem solve and use critical thinking to solve practical challenges.
  3. Experience in water treatment or substantial relevant experience.
  4. Certificate III in Water Treatment or equivalent is required.

Position Information

  • An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
  • This role attracts additional remuneration through allowances and a standby roster.
  • This is a full time, ongoing
