Position Details
The Regional Drought Coordinator will develop strong relationships with regional networks and work with these networks to develop a shared understanding of support measures available and ensure that effort is not duplicated. The position will work with a range of stakeholders including senior executives, local and state government representatives, industry, community and charity organisations, farming systems groups and individuals. The position will also look for opportunities to improve service delivery and flag issues to key organisations in a timely manner. Extensive travel across South-west Victoria is anticipated as a part of this role.
The successful candidate will be energetic, organised and highly motivated. They will create excellent working relationships with an extensive network of stakeholders and be able to influence and negotiate with others to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. The successful applicant will have strong leadership skills, and be an excellent communicator who can explain programs, listen and understand concerns, and identify emerging issues. The position may include some line management accountability.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Economics, Communications or Social Science or experience relevant to the position would be highly regarded.
- An understanding and knowledge of drought and its impact on rural and regional communities and economies and the interaction between government policies, strategies and services and their impact on rural communities.
This is a fixed term position available for a period until 31 October 2025. The work location for this position is Flexible within South-West Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
