Description
The University of Oklahoma seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Hydrogeoscience to join the School of Geosciences in the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy in 2026. We seek a dynamic scholar to conduct convergent research and teaching that address pressing societal needs related to water resources in the critical zone.
The successful candidate will build an impactful, externally funded research program in hydrogeoscience, developing transdisciplinary collaborations across environmental science, policy, and earth system science within the School of Geosciences and the wider university community. Areas of study can include, but are not limited to, sustainable management of groundwater resources; field-based, experimental, or modeling investigations into coupled physical, hydrological, and biogeochemical processes in aquifers; groundwater-surface water interactions; and fate and transport of solutes, contaminants, or colloids in the critical zone.
The faculty member will have access to robust field and laboratory instruments within the School of Geosciences as well as several multi-user facilities across campus, including the Samuel Roberts Noble Microscopy Laboratory, Kessler Field Site, Stable Isotope Measurement Facility, and the Mass Spectrometry, Metabolics, and Proteomics Lab
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
· Earned PhD in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science or related field associated with geosciences before the position’s start date.
· Strong writing, organization, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Potential to develop an impactful, externally funded research program in hydrogeoscience.
· Commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate hydrogeoscience courses that engage students from a wide range of backgrounds as they explore the field, provide the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the geoscience workforce, and encourage students to become active members of the scientific community.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience leading collaborative projects and working with interdisciplinary teams.
· Postdoctoral research experience
· Established publication record in hydrogeoscience.
· Demonstrated teaching record.
· Potential for collaborations within the School of Geosciences and across the University of Oklahoma.
