As the Manager, Planning and Engagement, you’ll play a pivotal role on the Executive Leadership Team, guiding the development of regional landscape plans, water allocation strategies, and meaningful community engagement. You’ll lead a passionate team and foster strong partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including First Nations communities, while influencing planning at both a regional and statewide level.

As the Manager Planning and Engagement, you will:

  • Lead a high-performing team to deliver strategic planning, communications, and engagement that support regional priorities and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain the Regional Landscape Plan, Annual Business Plans, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks to guide effective landscape management.
  • Build strong partnerships with Kaurna, Peramangk, and Ngarrindjeri Nations to embed cultural perspectives in planning and decision-making.
  • Oversee integrated water resource planning, including amendments to Water Allocation Plans in collaboration with regional and state partners.
  • Provide strategic advice to the Board and committees on planning, MERI, engagement, communications, and water management risks and opportunities.
  • Represent the region in the Statewide Planning and Engagement Network, supporting cross-regional collaboration and alignment.

  • You bring extensive experience leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • You’re a strategic thinker with a proven ability to lead planning, policy, and reporting initiatives across complex and dynamic environments.
  • You excel in engaging communities, building partnerships, and driving collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including First Nations communities.
  • You have strong knowledge of natural resource management, community engagement, and MERI frameworks.
  • You are a confident communicator with highly developed skills in negotiation, facilitation, and translating complex information for broad audiences.
  • You understand the workings of Boards and government, including strategic drivers, governance, and legislative frameworks such as the Landscape SA Act 2019.
  • You are solutions-focused, adaptive, and driven by a commitment to making a positive environmental and community impact.

The details:

  • One full-time (37.5 hrs/per week) position.
  • 3 year term position available immediately.
  • Located in Mount Barker, South Australia

Remuneration:
MAS3 – $127,859 per annum

Special conditions

  • This role has been designated a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework and requires a satisfactory National Police Clearance prior to employment.
  • Australian residency or current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit)

Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management or similar is highly desirable.
  • IAP2 certification will be highly regarded.
