Water Engineer / Technologist – Cape Town
Ingerop South Africa is looking for a Water Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cape Town. Minimum requirements include a BSc, BEng, or B Tech Degree in Civil Engineering, coupled with at least 6 years of experience working on municipal water and sewerage infrastructure projects. This includes large diameter pipelines, bulk sewers, water and sewage pump stations, reservoirs, and water/ sewer reticulation networks. Eligibility for professional registration (ECSA Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng) and experience in Project Management and Construction Contract Administration will be advantageous.

Synopsis (Brief description of the Company and the Position)
With over 65 years of experience in multidisciplinary consulting engineering and project management, Ingerop South Africa is seeking a proactive Water Engineer/Technologist to join its dynamic team in Cape Town on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of verifiable experience in municipal water and sewerage infrastructure projects. This includes large diameter pipelines, bulk sewers, water and sewage pump stations, reservoirs, and water/ sewer reticulation networks.
Job Description (Details of the position)
- Design of municipal water and sewerage systems, including preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities and contract documentation
- Construction contract administration and site supervision support
- Coordination and management of project deliverables and sub-consultants
- Engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction
- Mentorship and technical support to junior engineers, technicians and CAD personnel
- Assist with the preparation of professional service tenders and proposals
Experience, Qualification and Skills
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Minimum Requirements
- BSc / BEng / BTech degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in municipal water and sewerage infrastructure projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design tasks
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to mentor junior staff and guide CAD operators
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Commitment to continuous learning and assuming new responsibilities
- Valid driver’s license (advantageous)
Advantageous Experience and Skills
- Eligibility for professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng)
- Experience in the planning and design of bulk water and sanitation infrastructure, including pump stations and reservoirs
- Experience in project management and contract administration (particularly construction-related)
- Working knowledge of MS Project
- Experience with the preparation of professional services proposals and tender documentation
- Familiarity with managing sub-consultants and multi-disciplinary teams
