Job Description:

Your tasks:

  • Dissertation in the field of “Analysing alterations of fluvial processes and their triggers in the context of mountain hazards and related risk”
  • Research – Independent research on the defined tasks and objectives; Publication of scientific work in international journals; Presentation of scientific work at international conferences, workshops, etc.

  • Education and training – Participation in education and training activities at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences with regard to the PhD study programme; Participation in further training activities of the IDC, as a member of the IDC’s student board
  • Teaching – Supervision of bachelor students and contribution to supervision of master students
  • Administration – Support of the coordinators of IDC in administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completed relevant Master’s, Magister or Diploma degree in the fields of environmental or civil engineering, geography, geoinformatics or similar
  • Basic knowledge, strong interest and experience in hydrology and fluvial hydraulics, hydraulic engineering, sediment transport, and mountain hazard processes and management
  • Familiarity or experience with numerical modelling, field measurements, statistical analyses and scripting (e.g., Python, R, Matlab)
  • Very good English language skills, both, in oral and written communication
  • Enthusiasm for scientific work
  • Motivation for independent work in an interdisciplinary research team
  • Ability to work independently on complex problems
  • Collaborative skills, friendly and patient dealing with colleagues and students

For this position, a minimum gross salary of € 2.786 per month (14 times)*. is stipulated in the collective agreement. Your actual starting salary will depend on your previous experience and will increase over the course of your employment.
