Triodos Bank is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Intern (24-40 hours/week). We would like to offer this position for a period of 4-6 months, starting July, August or September 1st. The intern will gain the rather unique opportunity to help develop the positioning of a true impact-driven frontrunner in the financial sector on an emerging topic.

Profile

How you will make a difference

You will help us to develop Triodos Bank’s positioning on water-related topics, including water quality, water scarcity, flood risks and Nature-based Solutions for water. In terms of daily activities, this include desk research activities and interviewing relevant internal and external stakeholders.

For example, this will include the following tasks:

  • Analysing the challenges and opportunities to the financial sector brought by the European Union’s Water Framework Directive (WFD).
  • Integrating important insights from reports on water like from the Global Commission on the Economics of Water.
  • Reviewing our policies on water scarcity and quality.
  • Evaluating opportunities on financing water-related Nature-based Solutions by scouting for examples.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a registered student (HBO or WO) currently studying water-related studies or have a background in water management, environmental policy, hydrology or climate adaptation. We are primarily looking for candidates enrolled in a Master’s program.
  • Have a keen interest in sustainability transitions and the role of the financial sector in accelerating transitions and making positive impact.
  • Be both a team-player and be able to work independently on desk research projects.
  • Be very well organised and able to manage your time in an efficient way.
  • Have strongly developed communication skills and be open to people.
  • Be an independent thinker.

Furthermore, it is expected that you will have:

  • A good command of English, especially in writing. Please attach an example of a written research document, article or school assignment in English to your application.

If necessary, the internship assignment can be combined with writing a thesis.
