The Global Futures Laboratory of Arizona State University is currently looking for a Research Analyst to support the Arizona Water Innovation Initiative (AWII). The Research Analyst will work primarily with researchers from the Impact Water – Arizona program of AWII to turn qualitative and mixed methods data into actionable, publishable research deliverables.
The Impact Water – Arizona program directly funds projects and supports ASU faculty and staff in implementing engagement activities and developing use-inspired research and tools to address Arizona’s water challenges. Spearheaded by the Global Institute of Sustainability and Innovation, the program operates in partnership with the Kyl Center for Water Policy and the Decision Theater. Impact Water – Arizona plays a vital role in ASU’s Arizona Water Innovation Initiative, fostering community awareness and involvement to tackle water challenges and propel solutions in the state. By collaborating across diverse expertise and resources, the program is sparking knowledge, inspiring engagement, and instigating transformative change for a more secure and resilient water supply.
This role provides support to AWII’s User Experience team, and involves planning, executing, and overseeing various tasks to ensure the successful cataloging and analysis of research to benefit academic, government, and public arenas. Currently, this data is primarily qualitative in nature, but quantitative and mixed-methods data is present. A researcher who can work with qualitative data primarily and quantitative data secondarily is desired. A familiarity with a wide range of data collection methods (surveys, focus groups, interviews, user experience tests, and more) is an important aspect of the position. The position involves close collaboration with multiple project leads, stakeholders, and the AWII User Experience Architect. This position also involves teamwork, independent task completion, and self-directed work. The Research Analyst performs additional independent research and tasks as assigned.
This is a grant funded position with an expected end date of 09/30/2026, and the position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Essential Duties:
Responsibilities for the Research Analyst Assistant include:
- Organize existing data for academic, government, and public use.
- Support researchers in developing, collecting, analyzing, and storing project data.
- Build and maintain research databases.
- Interface with ASU IRB to update and manage IRB modifications to the AWII IRB protocol.
- Facilitate effective communication between team members, stakeholders, and project sponsors regarding research outcomes.
- Assist in data tasks for supported projects and general research needs to ensure timely data delivery.
- Prepare reports, handouts, and websites for water stakeholders utilizing Microsoft programs like Word, PowerPoint, and Canva.
- Develop rapport and strong working relationships with project leads at ASU.
- Building and managing data collection instruments through technologies such as Qualtrics.

- Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and analysis methods, techniques, and procedures.
- Experience with Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes and procedures.
- Experience writing literature reviews.
- Strong English language verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience synthesizing and visualizing mixed-methods data for different audiences (e.g., public, policy, academic).
Working Environment:
- Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.
- Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
- Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties. Expected to be responsive to customers, engaged in work production, resourceful, flexible, and respectful of others.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
