Missions
The post-doctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Stéphanie Monjon. The aim of this research project is to better understand and analyze China’s Corporate Environmental Credit System (CECS) for enforcing environmental laws, regulations and standards.
Activities
The project is based on the collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data on the system. The person recruited will contribute in particular to the following aspects:
– Analysis of available discourse and texts on the SCEEE in Chinese, in particular to analyze the doctrinal and legislative elements on which the system is based.
– Mapping the public and private players involved in the system, as well as in the production of information for monitoring and rating corporate actions.
– Work on company data, in particular credit ratings seeking to measure their environmental performance.
– Work on spatialized data from the Chinese web: data on air and water quality, etc.
– Publication of academic articles in open-access journals and presentation of results at international conferences.
Skills
– PhD in political science or economics
– Knowledge of the environment and environmental policies
– Mastery of data processing tools (R, Python, Stata) and experience in using these tools
– Fluency in French and English (spoken and written)
– Basic knowledge of Chinese
– Ability to write and publish scientific articles,
– Ability to work in a team and on multidisciplinary projects.
Work Context
The project will be carried out within LEDa. The person recruited will benefit from the multi-disciplinary environment of Paris-Dauphine University, with its 6 research laboratories in the human and social sciences and mathematics-computing. The multidisciplinary “Sustainability” seminar provides a forum for exchanges between colleagues from different disciplines. The Institut PSL-ACSS en sciences sociales & sciences des données provides support in data science.
This post-doctorate is part of the research contracts funded by CNRS Sciences humaines & sociales in line with its scientific policy, its focus on the planet’s habitability issues and specific support for research into the energy transition.
