Weston & Sampson is currently seeking an Engineer/Environmental Scientist/Geologist with 0-3 years of experience in our Albany, NY office. What you’ll do:

  • Experience and be familiar with, or excited to learn about, performing Environmental sampling oversight of environmental remediation and construction projects, inspections of constructed sites, report preparation associated with environmental activities, assuring compliance with contract specifications and plans.
  • Work closely with our project managers and environmental professionals on a variety of environmental engineering and construction assignments. Diverse projects may include Brownfield site assessment and environmental monitoring, underground storage tank removal/replacement, site /civil/stormwater design, and soil/groundwater remediation design.
  • Collect field samples for screening and/or laboratory analysis (air, soil, groundwater, and water)
  • Conducting Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM standards, EPA and NYSDEC requirements/regulations, providing oversight and sampling during the installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, overseeing remedial activities, managing analytical data (tabulation, QA/QC and evaluation of data)
  • Preparing plans/maps/boring logs
  • Prepare reports and technical memoranda for a variety of environmental projects including environmental assessment, regulatory compliance, landfill environmental monitoring, solid waste permitting, feasibility studies, and engineering design.
  • Coordinate task scheduling and deliverables across a variety of environmental and engineering disciplines on muti-disciplinary projects.
  • Work with federal and state regulators
  • Participate in specific skill training for the designated job assignments.
  • Ability to handle flexible workload, diverse project files, and work well with multiple staff members.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, engineering or related field, Masters preferred
  • 0 to 3 years of experience
  • Experience working in field setting (construction oversight, soils logging, drilling oversight) a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoCAD considered a plus but is not mandatory.
  • Ability to work outdoors on fast-paced field assignments.
  • A positive attitude and able to communicate effectively with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license. Availability to travel for fieldwork as needed.
  • Able to handle flexible workload
