WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Blue Bonds Project Manager (BBPM) is responsible for day-to-day management and implementation of the Blue Bonds program and related activities, in cooperation with the relevant TNC team, partners, and government agencies. The Blue Bonds Project Manager will provide technical and project support and serve as the point of contact to the technical teams within the government agencies, other conservation organizations, foundations and the academic community. They shall also maintain administrative and budgetary oversight for all project-related activity.  
The BBPM will establish project goals and success factors, and will develop project plans, budgets, metrics and schedules with input and buy-in from key stakeholders and team members. They will assess project scope and objectives, ensuring all risks and dependencies are addressed in the project plan in order to deliver successful project results that support the fulfillment of the objectives. They will define roles and responsibilities, recruit, and lead the project teams to successfully achieve identified goals in the most cost-effective and time-saving manner possible.

May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
This position will report to the Belize Blue Bonds Director (BBD) and will be based out of a home office in Belize City/Belmopan or surrounding areas

WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Responsibilities & Scope:
More specifically, TNC seeks a candidate who will:
•    Obtain go/no-go decisions at all program decision points from the Blue Bonds Director or Sponsor, and identify and obtain approval for project deliverables from the appropriate staff or teams. Throughout the project lifecycle, the Blue Bonds Project Manager will monitor and measure program progress, and conduct corrective action as necessary.
•    Develop and implement the Belize Blue Bonds (BBB) workplan and monitoring and evaluation framework. Monitor program progress throughouy and proactively and periodically alert the BBD of any obstacles or delays with activities related to the Conservation Funding Agreement (CFA) milestones and conservation undertakings.
•    Develop, work within and/or manage budget to complete BBB program related activities/projects, negotiating and contracting with vendors, and tracking burn rates. 
•    Oversee data management, manage reporting processes and develop content/reports to support reporting requirements and other communications needs, including internal TNC reports, donor reports, impact reports and other ad hoc requests.
•    Ensure coordination and communication with the BBD and across the various [program] workstreams within and outside of TNC.
•    Perform risk management, issue resolution, and conflict management, and collaboratively solve complex problems using project management methodologies and processes, and ensure all organizational standards are met.
•    Serve as a member of various governance bodies, technical committees, and working groups associated with BBB program implementation.                                                 •    Provide input/technical guidance related to BBB developments, partnership arrangements, national policy support, technical capacity requirements, and the negotiation of complex agreements in a political environment etc., based on analysis, experience and context.   May represent the Blue Bonds Director in public forums/committees, as deemed necessary.
•    Proactively follow and promote our Code of Conduct both internally and externally, continuously, and consistently demonstrating alignment with our values.
•    Provides planning, administrative, and logistical support for program related events, as needed.
•    May require frequent travel domestically and/or internationally.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

•    BA/BS, degree and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Experience of socio-political landscape in Belize pertaining to marine affairs. Experience working in partnership with government, different communities, organizations and/or entities.
•    Experience managing projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.
•    Experience negotiating complex agreements.  
•    Supervisory experience.
•    Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
•    Experience using applications such as Microsoft Office
 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated 
•    Ability to explain conservation practices to technical and non-technical audiences
•    Knowledge of current trends, practices, and standards in marine conservation, marine spatial planning, conservation finance mechanisms, and conservation trust funds.
•    Experience using applications such as Geographic Information System (GIS.
