Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
Provide overall leadership, management and coordination of the entire operations (design, implementation, monitoring and reporting) of the WV Mauritania WASH interventions in a holistic and sustainable manner.
KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Develop strategies and technical approaches for WASH project models and ensure their implementation
- In collaboration with all stakeholders, develop, monitor and implement the WV Mauritania WASH Business plan
- Coordinate WASH activities planning, organize and monitor field teams to reach the objectives, outcomes and outputs.
- Provide field supervision and monitoring to ensure that WASH interventions are well planned and completed in compliance with national and international standards/policies and are aligned with the Nutrition &WASH Technical Programme goal
- Ensure coaching and training of the staff of the Program to achieve the project objectives and outcomes in their respective areas of responsibility
- Lead in the development of WASH projects in Mauritania, mapping of resource needs and lead WASH fundraising initiatives
- Communicate and timely report activities’ progress to NO, WASH Regional Director, Support Offices (WVUS, WV Germany and WV Ireland) and Donors (UNICEF)
- Develop and manage partnership in WASH sector including Government partners, WASH sector partners, local authorities and potential and current donors
- Fulfil any other task in line with the mission and vision of WV upon request from the IP Director or designate or National Director.
- Contribution to the National Office cross-cutting tasks (tender committees, Green Team, RDMT, CROPI etc…)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification
- Degree in Civil/Rural engineering and Hydraulic infrastructures and systems
Required Professional Experience:
- At least five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector throughout Development & Humanitarian organizations;
- Five (5) years professional experience in international development and managing water supply systems and Hygiene & sanitation programs;
- Good knowledge and skills in management and leadership.
Required Language(s):
- Fluency in French and English
Required travel and/or work environment accommodations:
- Travelling and working in rural areas sometimes without clean water and poor hygiene conditions
Position’s physical requirements:
- Relocation to Nouakchott, Mauritania
