This summer, work to protect the boundary waters in our canvassing and field manager positions.
The boundary waters is our state’s most special wilderness, home to moose, beavers, and lynxes. Its lakes help make it the most visited wilderness area in the country. But a giant mining company is pushing to build a copper mine just south of the wilderness area.
In order to permanently protect the watershed from mining, we are hiring canvassers and field managers to educate the public about the issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence decision-makers.
As a canvasser this summer you will:
- Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues
- Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills
- Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community
- Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field
- Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work
We are looking for:

*Eligibility for benefits depends on your position, location, duration of employment, and other factors.
Pay: Staff earn a base pay between $17 and $27, plus staff can earn 20% of what they raise over our minimum standard, which means staff have the opportunity to earn over $20 per hour. Staff never earn less than minimum wage for the hours that they work. So, depending on performance, you could earn an average of between $17 to $30 per hour.
Pay: Average of $17.00 – $27.00 per hour
