Master's Student: Machine Learning/AI for Hydrology  via AGU

The Dynamic Earth Systems Simulation Laboratory (https://dualearth.github.io) at the University of Alabama Department of Geological Sciences (https://geo.ua.edu) is seeking an enthusiastic and technically capable Master’s student to join an interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research project at the intersection of hydrology, geology, and machine learning. Projects include using ML/AI to forecast flooding, Hydrometeorology, snow pack, land surface processes and streamflow. This position is funded by the Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) and will contribute to the national effort to advance next-generation hydrologic forecasting capabilities.

CIROH is a national consortium of 28 academic, government, and private institutions led by the University of Alabama and supported by NOAA’s National Water Center. CIROH supports the development of next-generation tools for forecasting streamflow, floods, droughts, and water quality by integrating hydrological sciences with computer science, data science, and decision science. Its mission is to transform the nation’s water prediction capabilities through collaborative research and operational innovation.
