JOB SUMMARY:
The position will provide key precision agriculture and remote sensing expertise to support cooperative research between Clemson University and USDA-ARS to improve water management strategies in southeast USA cropping systems that include corn, soybean, cotton, and winter cover crops. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
65% – Essential – Experiments: Collects, processes, and analyzes soil water availability, crop water use, and other measures of plant health in independent field and laboratory research.
15% – Essential – Greenhouse, Field Work, and Data Management: Assists in data collection. Performs data entry and statistical analyses of data collection. Creates computer graphics. Develops and maintains web pages for laboratory and research.
10% – Essential – Research Equipment and Supply Maintenance: Maintains research equipment. Orders and manages supplies. Researches new technology to enhance lab efficiency.
5% – Essential – Training: Trains interns, volunteers, visitors, undergraduate and graduate students in lab techniques and lab safety.
5% – Essential – Presentations and publications: Writes publications and presents research papers at professional meetings and communicates with national and international colleagues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Master’s Degree – Crop Science, Soil Science, and/or related fields
Work Experience – 2+ years crop science, precision agriculture, remote sensing, water management, or related fields
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education – 1st Doctoral / Professional Degree – Crop Science, Soil Science, and/or related fields
Work Experience – 3+ years precision agriculture

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $46,700 – $80,000
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 1 employee
Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University’s initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
