Action for Food Production (AFPRO) is a socio-technical organization working for the upliftment of the rural poor through effective natural resource management. Position: AFPRO having its Head Office in New Delhi requires “Hydrogeologist cum National Resource Person” to be based at AFPRO Regional Office – Ahmednagar, Maharashtra with the following requirements.
Qualification: Graduate/Post Graduate in Hydrogeology.
Experience: The above position requires minimum 5 years of experience in development sector. Should have in depth technical expertise and work experience in Hydrogeology/Water Resource Development-Soil and water conservation, Geophysical prospecting for ground water, aquifer mapping and recharging, water balance study. Should have skills in project planning, monitoring and evaluation, program management, fund mobilization and skills in communication with funding partners. The Candidate should have experience in successfully leading the field team, liaisoning with district/state administration, having demonstrated leadership skills in rolling out project interventions in selected villages across the District/State. Knowledge of GIS Software is a must.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Coordination of Survey, planning & designing of water resources development projects of AFPRO in different States.
• To carry out technical appraisals, monitoring and evaluation of water resources in different project areas.
• To conduct ground water investigation for drinking water, irrigation and over all water resources development.
• To Organize and conduct training on promotion, maintenance and implementation of water resources projects.
• Conduct Field visits to projects in different States in context to water resources integrated rural development, watershed development projects.
• Preparation of activity report, technical reports, projects, etc.
• The position requires travel to project locations in various States as and when required.

• The applicant must be mature with good public relations, team building, resilient and motivated.
• Good communication and presentation skills in English and local language
• Liaison with, community organizations and Resources Organizations – build and strengthen relationships.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Should be a good team player with multi-tasking ability.
