This position is located in the Georgia Environmental Protection Division – Watershed Protection
Branch – Agricultural Water Withdrawal Program. As the manager of the Agricultural Water Metering Unit, this position
is responsible for overseeing and managing the State’s agricultural metering program including staff. This position
requires strong people skills and a good understanding of agricultural water use. In particular, the position will be
expected to: engage with farmers and other stakeholders; maintain current knowledge of state regulations; oversee
contracts and contractors; and work directly with farmers on metering responsibilities. The program is also responsible
for developing associated guidance and technical documents. This position also requires strong finance skills with
managing large amounts of invoices and budgets
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
— A graduate degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Engineering (Agricultural, Chemical,
Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Sanitary) or related field from an accredited college or university.
– Knowledge or experience with interpreting and applying state regulations.
– Experience with agricultural water use, metering, and irrigation.
– Demonstrated ability to work with farmers and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection or environmental research. Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis for a maximum of Two years non-managerial/supervisory experience.
