About the Role:

The Manager Water Resource Monitoring is responsible for providing strategic direction, planning and advice for water monitoring, investigations and technology programs across DEW to inform the State’s water planning and management decisions. The role leads the establishment of standards for the analysis, synthesis and provision of water data and other information to inform and to support agency objectives, policy and program development.

The role works across DEW to provide program leadership, vision and direction setting, applying lateral thinking and creativity to find effective solutions for highly complex problems. 

The incumbent leads and manages the Water Resource Monitoring Unit’s teams, providing mentoring and oversight for the management of up to 35 staff within Adelaide and located regionally.  As a key member of the Water Science and Monitoring leadership team, the role also oversees the strategic directions of the Water Science and Monitoring Branch and contributes to strategic direction setting as a member of the branch leadership team.

Contract: Ongoing employment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in leadership, business management or Public Sector Management 
  • A technical or tertiary qualification in science, engineering, water or environmental management or related field 

Special Conditions:

• May be required to participate in fire management and associated duties.

• Intra/interstate and remote area travel may be required.

• May be required to work out of hours.

• This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. Remuneration: MAS3 ($127,859 max p.a.)
