As a Water Program Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for citizens to engage in water management programs. You will assist with program and event bookings, track program statistics, provide customer service at booths/events, and act as the main point of contact for 311 calls. Working within the Citizen Programs Team, you will oversee the administration of the Water Managed Sites program and serve as the main point of contact for current and potential applicants. You will also provide support to the Team Lead, and Public Program Coordinators and assist with the administration and delivery of the Water Managed Sites and other such programs. You will develop relationships with program interest holders to benefit the programs, report on program progress and ensure program accuracy. Primary duties include:
- Coordinate the Water Managed Sites program and support Climate and Environment programming to ensure effective administration and delivery.
- Build and maintain relationships with program participants, applicants, partners and community members.
- Represent Climate and Environment and the City of Calgary at various events; network and develop relationships with appropriate individuals, businesses, or internal business units.
- Research, plan, and implement educational presentations; deliver presentations and tours at various locations, including water treatment plants, bioengineering sites, and other programming locations.
- Carry out customer service for citizen Climate and Environment programs by responding to calls, monitoring e-mails, administering mail out program information, clarifying customer issues or concerns, and developing positive relationships.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year diploma in Environmental Science, Communications, or a related field and at least 1 year of experience in educational program development and delivery; OR
- A degree in Environmental Science, Communications, or a related field and up to 1 year of experience in educational program development and delivery.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams is essential.
- Experience with customer service systems such as 311 would be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and the ability to handle challenging customer situations.
Working Conditions: Office environment with regular exposure to groups of people in other facilities. This position requires the ability to lift up to 10 kilograms in the process of setting up and taking down displays and presentation materials.
