We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Engineer to lead a team and manage projects to monitor, review and optimise water and waste, and environmental related activities throughout our beautiful region.
The Role
A day in the life of this role sounds a little like this…
- Travel to and throughout the spectacular Torres Strait Islands.
- Be a leader to our water and environmental engineering team.
- Use your project management experience to manage multiple projects.
- Develop strategy and plans in relation to Climate Change Response, Coastal Protection, Waste management and general environmental engineering related activities, and oversee the delivery of related programs and projects.
- Provide your expert knowledge and input around design, installation and operation of aeration systems, filtration systems, RO systems, pumping systems, mechanical plant, telemetry, pipework and all associated water and wastewater assets.
- Work closely with the operations team to examine and arrange replacement, upgrades and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements (including reporting) with regard to Work Health and Safety and drinking water and environmental legislative requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend products, equipment, systems and processes to help improve safety, performance, and reliability.
- Use your knowledge and experience to think innovatively, finding sustainable solutions for water and wastewater treatment and distribution.
- Ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications and requirements.
- Actively seek funding opportunities and develop business cases in support of new initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We need someone who shares our values of One, Respect, Accountability, Courage, and Resilience. The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor level (BE) qualification in Engineering in the area of civil, chemical or environmental engineering with substantial experience in planning, construction, management and operation of water supply and wastewater schemes.
- A current “C” class Driver’s Licence (Provisional or higher).
- Proven leadership skills and staff management experience.
- Strong project management skills.
- High-level communication skills.
