PRESENTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian NGO which, for more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI’s teams – 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers – work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Solidarites International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. The WASH program manager is responsible for implementing and achieving the objectives defined in the operation proposals.
(S)he is responsible for overseeing operational teams assigned to the program.
(S)he guarantees the good performance, and the quality of the WASH programs implemented, and, when appropriate, proposes adjustments or developments to ensure relevance.
DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
Diagnosis and project design
• Participate in the preparation and implementation of diagnostics
• Participate in the design and the financial sizing of the human and logistical programs to implement
• Prepare the appendixes and technical chapters (of logical framework) of operation proposals
• Implement activities in compliance with the annual business strategy, Solidarity International technical requirements, and donor criteria
Implementation and operational monitoring
• Plan and oversee the implementation of program that (s)he is responsible for, both on-time and within the set technical specifications
• Plan WASH activities with the support Departments (administrative, logistics), according to the objectives
• Propose and develop indicators for monitoring WASH program activities
• Use management, activity, results, and context monitoring tools
• Respect SI procedures
• Provide support and advice to the logistics base for the purchase of materials specific to WASH activities
• Assess the relevance of activities, the effectiveness of interventions, and their appropriateness in light of changing circumstances and the needs of populations
• Propose adjustments to programs if necessary
• Ensure the achievement of results of the programs (s)he is responsible for
• Supervise and support responsible business WASH activity monitor and evaluate implemented WASH activities
• Anticipate the difficulties associated with conducting WASH activities and help solve problems related to WASH programs
• Propose program changes according to the changing environment and indicators
• In collaboration with the administrative service, contribute to the development of program budgets and track spending and budget forecasts
• Develop the status of needs and the Treasury requests with activity managers
Capitalization
• Compose capitalization documents respecting SI tools
• Prepare contracting reports before the end of his/her employment contract, and make them available to those interested in the mission and at headquarters
• Guarantee the dissemination of technical documentation
HRM
• Participate in validating recruitment for the national technical WASH staff,
• Define, in conjunction with the administrative service, the requirements for WASH position, open for application, adapting Job Descriptions to professional guidelines if necessary
• Welcome and brief new employees or volunteers working underneath him/her
• Implement training related to operational WASH requirements and the identified training needs
• Manage/support the team working for him/her
• Conduct workshops and regular or ad hoc meetings
• Evaluate and assess the performances of his/her team members
• Identify potential changes in members of his/her team and provide feedback to the Program Manager / HR Desk Reference
• Ensure his/her team’s compliance with safety regulations
Reporting / communications / representation
• Make known all information on the security situation or any event with a possible consequence on SI activities or team security
• Write reports or appendixes relating to his/her reporting and or funding amendment activities
• Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and formats
• Maintain a local operational communications network and good relationships with local and governmental authorities, donor representatives, UN agencies, and other international agencies
• Assure Solidarites International’s representation in the meetings or forums concerning the program in his/her place of employment WASH
• Represent SI on request and/or delegation
• Respond to the requirements of Headquarters concerning specific needs
• Prepare administrative paperwork to sign (MOU, hand over, etc ) in conjunction with governmental authorities, communities, or partners
PROFILE FORSAKEN:
Studies: degree related to WASH, Water management/environmental project management studies
Experience: in a similar position in the humanitarian sector with technical skills in terms of design or review of water network, pumping equipment. Transversal skills in protection and monitoring.
Language: Ukrainian – native, English – upper-intermediate and above
IT: Professional with the use of MSc Office pack
Qualification: demonstrated skills in project management: the ability to train, accompany and support staff/colleagues productively under stressful circumstances. Analytical, strategic and writing skills. Inclination towards and good command of project cycle management tools
Soft skills: Experience on team management and capacity building
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Place of work: the office is located in the city of Dnipro, possible business trips to Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk regions
Contract: fixed-term contract (according to Ukrainian legislation)
Type of employment: full-time
Salary: 2700 EURO gross (paid in UAH according to the monthly rate of the bank of the European Commission).
Additionally: paid vacation 31 calendar days, paid family leave, life insurance.
