Main duties and responsibilities

The aim of the position is research and development activities in the in the fields of hydrobiology and fisheries with specialization in studying fish populations and fisheries in water bodies, organizing and analyzing collected datasets. 

The main work tasks 

  • Participation and applying of research and development projects
  • Scientific publishing
  • Supervising students (including post graduates)
  • Popularizing the field
  • Teaching

Required qualifications

Doctoral degree in natural sciences

Required experience

  • Previous experience in scientific research and teaching
  • Scientific publications meeting the qualifications of a researcher (including topics in fisheries and modelling)
  • Experience in leading research projects
  • Experience in leading EU funded project
  • Knowledge and proficiency in programming languages necessary for data processing and analysis (R or Python, SQL)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Analytical and proactive capabilities

Language requirements

  • Proficiency in Estonian language at level C2 (able to teach at university)
  • Good command of English, both spoken and written
