The Arizona Water Innovation Initiative (AWII) is a statewide project led by the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory that aims to design implementable options to sustain global habitability and improve well-being for all humankind. The initiative has five strategic programs: the Global Center for Water Technology, the Advanced Water Observatory and Decision Support System, Impact Water – Arizona, Arizona Water for All, and the Kyl Center for Water Policy.

We are seeking a Program Coordinator to lead administrative tasks related to planning, organizing, and coordinating activities for AWII’s Arizona Water for All (AW4A) team. This social science and justice-oriented program is working with communities across Arizona to design and advance solutions to ensure a future in which all Arizona households will have access to safe and sufficient water.

Under general administrative direction from AW4A lead Dr. Amber Wutich, the Program Coordinator is expected to work independently and perform administrative work of considerable difficulty.

This position is grant funded and will run until Fall 2026.

Essential Duties:

Responsibilities for the Program Coordinator include:

  • Assist in the development of project plans, outlining scope, objectives, timelines, deliverables, key stakeholders and communication channels.
  • Oversee the implementation of projects and monitor progress against project milestones and adjust plans as needed.
  • Monitor project expenses.
  • Facilitate effective communication between team members, stakeholders, and projects sponsors.
  • Address any issues or conflicts that may arise during the project.
  • Oversees the evaluation of projects’ effectiveness to develop and implement the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Supports the Program Manager, the primary liaison with project leads, with the following tasks: Conduct regular check-ins with project leads to monitor progress, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Respond to emails, do calendaring, and manage communication with project leads.
  • Take notes/document meetings.
  • Communicate and provide input and feedback to the Program Director.
  • Develops rapport and strong working relationships with project leads at ASU.
  • Supports the team in developing collecting, and analyzing data related to projects.
  • Work in partnership with university departments to provide robust programs are designed and delivered collaboratively.
  • Events & communication planning and execution to support the program.
  • Assists in prioritizing data tasks for supported projects and general research needs to ensure timely data delivery.
  • Assists with community assessments, identifying relevant prior research, instruments, new data, or existing data sources as required for projects or activities.
  • Provides assistance and information to faculty, staff and outside organizations regarding function/program.
  • Knowledge of state water resources.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Skill in planning, budgeting, implementing and evaluating projects.
  • Skill in designing materials and presentations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a background in water resources and an understanding of Arizona’s water issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with water innovation and impact initiatives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of academic research environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and analysis methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Experience working in a diversified environment and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Skill in working on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously for different stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
  • Skill in a wide variety of administrative functions including calendaring, scheduling, and word processing.
  • Skill in dealing with a wide range of topics, including confidential and sensitive information.
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy and in maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Skill with project management platforms such as Asana or Monday.com.
  • Proficiency with Adobe application software and web services.

Working Environment:

  • Climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of being in a stationary position.  
  • Constantly detects and operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.   
  • Ability to clearly communicate and exchange accurate information to perform essential duties.  Expected to be responsive to customers, engaged in work production, resourceful, flexible, and respectful of others.
  • May require a flexible working schedule to accommodate projects and initiatives.
  •  May require travel to meetings and conferences in and out of state.
  •  May drive University vehicle and/or cart to campus site.

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Driving Requirement:This position may require driving. Employee must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
