The Alligator Rivers Region Technical Committee (ARRTC), established under the Environment Protection (Alligator Rivers Region) Act 1978, advises the Australian Government Minister for the Environment and Water on the quality and appropriateness of the scientific research undertaken by the Supervising Scientist and mining companies to protect and restore the environment in the Alligator Rivers Region from the impacts of uranium mining.

The Supervising Scientist is seeking applications for five independent scientific member positions on ARRTC for a 3-year term commencing in August 2025. We are seeking candidates with significant skills and experience in each of the following areas:
•    Mine restoration ecology
•    Soil biogeochemistry and contaminated sites assessment
•    Hydrogeology and hydrogeochemistry
•    Surface water quality modelling and freshwater ecology
•    Environmental monitoring design and statistical analysis

The role requires travel to attend two meetings per year in either Darwin or Jabiru NT, usually held over 4-days. From time to time there also may be additional out of session meetings.

Appointments to ARRTC are made by the Australian Government Minister for the Environment and Water. Members will receive a sitting fee, currently $464 per day, as set by the Remuneration Tribunal for part-time office holders. All travel and accommodation costs required for committee business will be covered.
