As the Systems Control Technician, you will maintain control systems hardware and software, participate in control system project coordination, and liaise with interested parties on all process and related control systems located in Water Treatment facilities. You will provide control system services to various Water Treatment work groups, Maintenance, Operations, Project Engineering, Process Engineering, and Maintenance Planning. This position focuses on Industrial Control Systems (ICS), process communication networks, process control configuration and maintenance. Primary responsibilities include:
- Maintain and upgrade:
- DCS process control systems
- SCADA control systems
- Data historian and reporting systems
- Process control application servers and workstations.
- OT relational databases, business object applications and visualization tools related to automation.
- Organize and develop databases and control system algorithms.
- Configure and maintain historian system and relational databases, visual user interfaces, compliance reporting applications.
- Configure and maintain control system operator workstation interfaces, remote and portable human machine interfaces.
- Configure and maintain process control network and communication systems.
- Configure and maintain process control application servers and workstations.
- Maintain and update drawings and system documentation.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year technical diploma with at least 5 years of relevant experience that must include: service, installation, and implementation of control systems (preferably in Water industry) or a degree in Computer Science, Applied Engineering/Technology, Computer Engineering, and at least 5 years of related experience.
- Configuration and programming experience with Process Data Historians, Programmable Logical Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Distributed Control System (DCS), Industrial Control Networking and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems is required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
- Excellent knowledge and working experience in Industrial Control System networking, virtual machines, installation managing of computer application servers and workstations.
- Success in this position requires strong communication with the ability to quickly and independently acquire new knowledge, skills and technologies and work collaboratively within a team.
