Local recruitment: Advisor for water demand and salinization

Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier

Netherlands 🇳🇱

What You Will Do

Help shape the future of our freshwater resources!
Climate change is putting increasing pressure on freshwater availability. In the future, ensuring sufficient water for all functions will become an even greater challenge. That’s why we are working with a dedicated team on an ambitious freshwater availability program. Soon, our general board will set the course for this crucial task.

For Hollands Noorderkwartier, salinization is a key factor in water intake from the IJsselmeer. Due to climate change, both external and internal salinization in the polders will increase. As a Salinization Advisor, you will help assess these effects through research, monitoring programs, and collaboration with water authorities and knowledge institutions.

Additionally, you will play a role in the Delta Program Freshwater and developments related to water availability in the North Sea Canal region.

You can connect political interests with complex water management challenges. You can easily coordinate with government bodies, Rijkswaterstaat, and the agricultural sector to find joint solutions. Key themes in your work include:

  • Water and soil as guiding principles
  • Sea level rise
  • Energy transition
  • Regional water distribution
