Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier

Netherlands 🇳🇱

What You Will Do

The availability of freshwater is increasingly under pressure due to climate scenarios. In the future, ensuring sufficient water for all functions may become a challenge. Together with a dedicated team, we are working on an ambitious freshwater availability program. Soon, our general board will determine the direction for this crucial task.

Due to climate change and societal shifts, water management is becoming more complex and integrated. We are looking for a freshwater availability advisor who understands this dynamic landscape. For Hollands Noorderkwartier, the IJsselmeer is the most important source of freshwater.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities:

As an advisor, you will be involved in various activities, including the Delta Program IJsselmeer Region and the Delta Program Freshwater, as well as developments related to water demand and supply in the North Sea Canal area. You will work collaboratively within the freshwater availability program, connecting with themes such as salinization, land subsidence, and groundwater management.

Moreover, you will be adept at advising your executive within a broad spectrum of interests and will easily establish connections with stakeholders such as provinces, ministries, and Rijkswaterstaat to achieve results together.

Current key themes include:

  • “Water and soil as guiding principles”
  • Sea level rise knowledge program
  • Energy transition
  • Nature conservation objectives
  • Implementation of integrated water safety and water level management
  • Salinization
  • Improving knowledge sharing and data exchange
