About the opportunity

The School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Decision Support System in Managing Water Assets to develop a system that optimises the management and reliability of waste assets. As part of a Smartcrete CRC-funded multi-industry project, the role involves hands-on research in understanding and modelling corrosion mechanisms, with a focus on improving sustainability and efficiency in waste asset management across various sectors.

Your key responsibilities will be in:

  • Developing Decision Support Systems: Design and implement advanced decision support tools to optimise the management and reliability of water and waste assets
  • Corrosion Mechanism Analysis: Conduct hands-on research to understand corrosion mechanisms affecting asset performance, nd apply modelling techniques to predict and mitigate their impact
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and industry experts on a Smartcrete CRC-funded multi-industry project
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyse data to inform decision-making processes and contribute to improving the sustainability and efficiency of water and waste asset management
  • Reporting and Dissemination: Prepare research reports, publications, and presentations to communicate findings to both academic, industry stakeholders and CRC Smartcrete
  • Project Management: Assist in the management of project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring alignment with research objectives.

About you

  • a PhD in engineering, environmental science, or a related field, with a focus on asset management or corrosion research
  • experience in corrosion analysis and modelling, with a focus on water or waste asset management
  • proficiency in developing and implementing decision support systems using advanced data analytics and modelling techniques
  • expertise in using relevant software tools for data analysis, such as Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar platforms
  • solid understanding of asset reliability, performance optimisation, and sustainability in industrial settings
  • demonstrated ability to conduct hands-on research and laboratory experiments related to corrosion mechanisms.
