Working within Fisheries Management you will provide advice on fisheries management and issues associated with the management of Queensland’s freshwater fisheries.

A key responsibility will be managing Queensland’s Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS). The position reports to the Senior Fisheries Manager and will be responsible for engaging with a range of stakeholders to implement programs of work. This position will also develop and maintain policy and regulatory tools to sustainably manage freshwater fisheries along with a range of correspondence, briefing and communication materials.

In addition the position will undertake duties as required by Fisheries Queensland executive.

• Develop and maintain fishery management tools as well as policy and regulatory instruments to support the management of Queensland’s freshwater fisheries.
• Provide high level advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding Queensland’s freshwater fisheries.
• Manage Queensland’s Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS).
• Enhance and maintain recreational fishing opportunities, particularly in freshwater, through improved fish stocking strategies and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships and consult with peers, staff, clients, researchers, government agencies and other key stakeholders for the management of Queensland’s freshwater fisheries.
• Represent Fisheries Queensland on working groups, conferences and workshops.
