Description
- The student will work on a project funded by the Water Research Commission that will involve developing a remote sensing groundwater monitoring system for South Africa that will form part of the Water Research Observatory.
- The degree will be completed through the University of Pretoria’s Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.
Requirements
- MSc Degree in groundwater management, agronomy, soil science, geography, environmental sciences, water science, mathematics, physics, or similar quantitative fields.
- Experience working with remotely sensed imagery and a sound understanding of the soil water balance and hydrological cycle
- Programming experience with Python, R or a similar language is essential, and experience with Github will be an added advantage
- Applicants should be highly motivated graduates with a strong academic background.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
- A valid driver’s licence (code 08/EB) would be an added advantage.
