Background
The Water Manager will be responsible for managing the Water pillar of “Environment”, one of the material topics, in the sustainability function of AGH. The main function of the role is to (1) contribute to accelerating the integration of sustainability into management, (2) defining and leading implementation of the Sustainability strategy incl. roadmaps, targets at each RHQ entity
organizations & stakeholders.
The Water Manager will be AGH’s subject matter expert on water and will play an integral role to ensure year-on-year, 2030 and 2040 sustainability target achievement with positive impact on business growth and society, working closely with relevant functions and personnel at each RHQ (Regional Headquarters for Overseas and Domestic Operations: Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and Oceania) as well as Asahi Group Holdings, The role requires proactive engagement with external organizations and subject matter experts on the topic of water and communicating key activities to reach external stakeholders.
Global water targets by 2030
- Reduce average water intensity to 3.2 m3/kl or less globally and to 2.7 m3/kl or less in key manufacturing sites located at our priority basins.
- 100% of manufacturing sites located in water risk areas implement initiatives to address identified risks.
Summary of accountabilities and deliverables
1.Updating group water strategy incl. roadmaps
- Update group water strategy and develop group costed water roadmap and governance mechanisms, aligned with global water targets, working closely with AGH Supply Chain team and RHQs Water Lead
- Develop a group water quality assessment guide to be included as part of the group water strategy
- Conceptualize group water net positive definition
2.Water stewardship / basin-level initiative management, monitoring and delivery of results
- Develop group guidance including criteria for success, aiming to help support RHQ’s project design, implementation and monitoring/reporting
- Support integration of human rights and social dimensions for selected water stewardship project(s)
3.Water risk assessment
- Assess / pilot digital water risk assessment tool(s) with RHQs and scale up a selected tool for more timely decision making
4.Networking and partnership building
- Strengthen both existing and new partnerships such as CEO Water Mandate and peer companies for greater Asahi’s visibility and knowledge exchanges
5.External reporting and disclosure
- Prepare respective materiality contents of annual group reports (e.g. Integrated report, Sustainability report etc.), ensuring information/data me
Skills and Experience Required
- University education
- At least 5 years experiences in one of following areas: corporate sustainability, water management in supply chain / manufacturing sites (in the sector of Food & Beverage Industry preferred), water stewardship project management
- Fluent English with excellent level of written English
- Good communication and presentation skills, ability to build interpersonal relationships
- Planning, budgeting, data management, organizational skills, time management PC (MS Office)
Position Details

- Holidays: 123 days off per year, 2-day weekends, holidays as per the annual calendar
- Expected Salary: 11,200,000 yen – 12,500,000 yen
