Job summary
Are you working within the water industry already? We are looking for a Water Security and Resilience Manager to be the Assistant Head of a small team based in our MOD offices in Whittington. This is a key role for our Defence Infrastructure Organisation to aligning and develop a cohesive water resilience programme providing support to our existing strategic Water and Wastewater team.
This post will lead delivery on an existing localised Water Security Programme and further develop a broader Water Resilience programme. The role will collaborate closely with regional stakeholders to address the medium and long-term Water Security and Resilience. The role remit will analyse activity and look at opportunities to develop a broader programme in support to water resilience, usage, leakage and wastewater management.
The role will act as a Water Security and Resilience champion seeking continuous improvement, drive improved performance, and enact initiatives to meet evolving needs and drive efficiency and value.
The role carries Line Management responsibilities for small team.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
- Leading the delivery Water Security Programme.
- Working with Commercial and Finance Functional leads to ensure effective integrated working.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and proactive working environment
- Operational Issue Management and Resolution.
- Liaise and engage with Technical and Assurance units to ensure compliance with best policy and practice
- Actively engage stakeholders to support programme development and project delivery.
- Engage with estate change programmes, projects, and disposals to ensure Water and Wastewater implications are fully considered.
- Liaise with external Agencies eg Environment Agency to build effective relationships to aid understanding of MoD obligations and risk and foster strong collaboration.
- Analysis the current state of water delivery and disposal across the MoD Estate to draw conclusions on how best to improve.
- Seek to influence at all levels to align obligations and plans with Defence need.
- Support wider improvement plans by taking a lead on initiatives, contributing to delivery and development, and responding to opportunities to align with our vision of a better estate, better service, and better business.
Person specification
Essential:
A proven ability to work in complex stakeholder and management environments and ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.
An understanding of the engineering required to delivery potable water and treat and dispose of waste water along with the regulations that govern
Desirable:
PFI and or Water and Wastewater Industry experience.
A relevant recognised engineering qualification
Licences
Full driving licence is required as visits to multiple sites across UK sometimes at short notice are needed.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
